Musings on that Virus

I'm 74 years old. My wife is 75.

We are "Senior Citizens" by any definition. We have lived many more years than we will live into the future. From the Biblical limit of 70 years of life that God set for humanity, we are already into extended warranty.

I am one of those who are especially vulnerable to the corona virus. I had pneumonia twice over the past 5 years during mission trips to Fiji. So we are currently in lock down mode in our home in Long Beach CA. Voluntary social distancing, a term I had never heard before.

Over these past few weeks we have seen the value of our investments plunge by a truly staggering amount, reducing significantly the years of financial security we have been counting on. Though we fully expect this situation to reverse itself in the future, this the present.

Why are we not anxious and riddled with fear?

3 Listen to Me [says the Lord], O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, you who have been borne by Me from your birth, carried from the womb:
4 Even to your old age I am He, and even to hair white with age will I carry you. I have made, and I will bear; yes, I will carry and will save you. Isaiah 46:3-5 (AMP)

I have very little hair of any color on my head.

You would not suspect my wife's age should you see her. I think she's related to Sarah, Abraham's wife, who in her old age was vibrantly gorgeous. Joyce always looks stunningly beautiful!!

Appearances cannot cancel underlying reality.

We are old.

The above passages remind us of the true nature of our loving Father. He knew all the days of our lives before we were born. He determined the exact time in history when we would come into existence. He placed us in the country of our birth. He knows our very thoughts before they occur to us. Nothing is hidden from His presence. There is nowhere we can go that He is not already there.

Why should we fear?

"Fear not for I am with you, declares the Lord."

Our Father is reliable, dependable, consistent, kind, loving, extraordinary, comforting, supportive . . . .

Think on these things.

Blessings!!
